The Making of a Princess

We are now fully involved in the Princess season, or rather parades galore. Each Saturday for three weeks we will be enjoying watching smiling girls atop floats. Yesterday we enjoyed Wenatchee's parade, or rather we enjoyed waiting for the parade to start with three adorable girls, escorts and many friends who help make a float happen for these kids. But the girls don't just wake up looking like a princess. They have to wake up at 5, get their hair done at 6.
The lady who did their hair is a master! That hair didn't budge an inch for the 7 hours or more that Whitni paraded around. It was quite impressive and quite stiff.

Putting on the dress is the next order of business. It doesn't involve just zipping, we also have to fluff out the underskirts. I guess someone might notice something wrong.

One of the big tricks was getting three foofy dresses inside the back of our pickup. It's a good thing it wasn't a long ride.
While we waited for about 4 1/2 hours the girls got to practice actions with the songs being played on the float. They were having lots of fun.

One of my favorite parts of the day was watching starry-eyed girls come up and want to meet the queen and princesses. This young lady was a princess in a wheel chair. She was very sweet, but it was so good to see young ladies being royalty with everyone.

One parade down, four to go.

I had no idea there was so much to it! They did look spectacular, and the float was so creative.
p.s.- Whitni is a princess even if she is in jeans and flip-flops; her nature shines through!
